Design Workshop

First Design Workshop of the SmartAL project, was held during 15 & 16 March 2018 in Korça, Albania. The workshop aimed at establishing a first draft curriculum of the Master and validating the teacher twinning program as well as the teacher’s capacity plan. Organized by and in the premises of the Universiteti "FAN S. NOLI" Korçë, with the participation of the partners from Universiteti Bujqesor i TiranesUniversiteti Europian i Tiranës, and the Ciheam - IAMM as the Coordinator, the meeting was first dedicated to the Presentation of the Job Market Study & training needs and of the Concertation meeting results. Secondly the meeting proceeded with presentation of a draft curriculum, and the teachers’ capacity building plan and of a teachers’ twinning program with an Albanian/EU pair of teachers, by the Agricultural University of Tirana (UBT) and the European University of Tirana (UET).

Europe Day: SmartAL as a success story!

On the occasion of Europe day on 9th of May 2018, the European Union Delegation to Albania organized the EU village. The aim of the event was to promote EU values and success stories from different realms of life. In the section of Higher Education, SmartAL was presented as one of the success stories from Albania, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Albanian students and interested experts will have the possibility to study within an innovative master on territorial management that promotes sustainable development.

2nd International Conference on Agriculture and Life Sciences “ICOALS”

 The Agricultural University of Tirana organized the second edition of International Conference on Agriculture and Life Sciences (ICOALS) 2018, from 7th to 9th May, 2018. ICOALS is one of the leading international conferences in the Western Balkans for presenting novel and fundamental advances in the fields of Agriculture and Life Sciences. It also serves to foster communication among researchers and practitioners working in a wide variety of scientific areas with a common interest in improving Agriculture and Life Sciences related issues. Magali Maire, SmartAL Project coordinator (Ciheam - IAMM) attended the International Conference by making a presentation on "the Optimization of the youth employment in Albania by designing a MASTER in European Innovations for a Sustainable Management of Albanian Territories, rural areas and agriculture."

Job Market Review

SmartAL takes pride in consolidating the Job Market Review. Since 2013, Albania is going through a process of structural reforms on several directions. Among these reforms two are directly linked with the objective of the SmartAl project and the aim of this job market review.

Benchmark Report

The Benchmark report on training is now consolidated. Benchmarking with appropriate partners, at a national or international level, enables a University to compare and evaluate its performance and, in so doing, monitor standards, compare good practice and  make  quality.  Benchmarking  enables  the  structured sharing of ideas and good practices on institutional strengths and weaknesses (Burquel, 2014).

The SmartAL master was introduced at the Work fair organized by the UET, the main purpose of the project being to address the new labor market needs identified by the new and emerging public policies in Albania. This event promotes new opportunities for students and young people in Albania.

Quality Plan

Two level of quality assurance will be used throughout the entire project duration:

-  Quality assurance of the whole project: the aim is to assure the compliance of the project processes and results with the standards agreed among the Partners (identified indicators of progress), and to implement a continuous quality monitoring. 

-  Quality assurance of the 9 Modules: the Albanian HEI-s have to follow an well-defined procedure for the quality assurance. HEI-s should build up internal quality bodies and respect the quality procedures foreseen by the existing Public Standard. A better quality assurance framework reflecting the Albanian public standards requests, and integrating best Albanian and EU practices will be set up.

Dissemination and exploitation

The dissemination and exploitation strategy enables SmartAL project to optimize its outcomes and impacts (including both theory and methodological processes and educational teaching/material). Dissemination will be an integral part of each activity of the project.
This WP activity supports the following objectives :
- Provide information about the achievement of the project.
- Increase the impact of the project.
- Maintain and create contacts with stakeholders of the project.
- Generate new partnership.
- Create a platform to ensure sustainable dissemination of the project outcomes.
This will be achieved through the creation of a website, Open House Days, Two conferences, several ongoing promotional campaings on our social media pages, creation of an Alumnii Assosciation

Management

The main objective of WP8 is to ensure the overall administrative and financial management of the project as well as the coordination and stimulation of all WP. WP8 is an overarching WP designed to support all the activities of the project. In particular by ensuring the smooth exchange of administrative and financial information and data, WP8 will guaranty that the resources are made available on time to each WP leader for them to implement their tasks as foreseen.
